Lets bring Art Attack to Lansdown!....well not art so much as rubbish.
We could choose an area in one of the courtyards...(preferably a flat area which can be seen well from one of the balconies)...and encourage residents to bring down their rubbish to help complete our picture (I'm thinking we go for something simple like the recycling symbol).
As we sort the rubbish, we could use all recyclable objects to create the picture to communicate just how much of the resident's waste could actually be re-used.
We could bring 'delight' to the act of sorting and recycling....whilst also providing ourselves with the opportunity to ask the residents questions about their waste system and also their views on recycling.
It might also be worth asking the resident's who 'donate' which part of Lansdowne they come from...we could then map out the 'flow' of the rubbish....this information could then be fed into our larger waste diagram which will then be passed onto Sheffield Homes.
We would obviously recycle all materials at the end of the day ^_^

As I said in my email- fantastic idea!
I think it is potentially a really good intervention, provided it is planned and managed well.
One of the things to include in the plannning would be liaising with the LIFE live project to time your intervention so that:
a. it doesn't clash with anything that the LIFE group might have planned
b. maximises/piggybacks on any work/intervention/action/communication technique or strategy that they might have successfully implemented.
hello... If you do some work on the lansdowne we would like to extend the offer to you of exhibiting some of your work at a shop unit on london road later this year, which is to be dedicated to the built environment in the sharrow area...
london road is an importnat area for sharrow as it is the place where all of the communities meet...
there will be a number of workshops about space/ the built environment going on from the shop with local people and it would be a good chance to bring together all of the live project work that has been going on into one space. Hopefully workers and local people can begin to see if there are any conections between the projects and how this can be taken forward by them(perhaps by applying for funding etc)... you can contact me on julia@sharrowcf.org.uk if this is something which you might like to be involved in. we wouldn't expect you to do more work/ special work for the space, but rather exhibit elements of what you are already doing...
